leslie-bartholomew-headshot-blog“I help people identify their strengths through awareness and appreciation and encourage working from those strengths. I also aim to create an atmosphere where understanding and value is placed on what each individual brings to our team and services. This fosters a shared connection and respect among our staff, clients, and community.”

Leslie Bartholomew joined our agency in January 2014 as the Senior Director of Administration and Operations. With a Master’s degree in Nutrition, a Certificate in Quality and Outcomes from George Mason University, and her current pursuit of a second Master’s degree in Organizational Effectiveness from Amberton University, Leslie brings integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to our agency. Leslie’s dedication to social services stems from her core values of showing respect and dignity to all while managing operations with loving kindness.

Leslie places high importance on intention, energy, collaboration and results, the sum of which is a reflection of her personal values as well as our organization’s values and is evident by the quality of our direct care services. Leslie’s previous work experience in hospitals has heightened her awareness and priority toward educating the community about the causes of mental illness and substance abuse disorders. She also believes mental illnesses and substance abuse should be cared for with a higher regard.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Leslie spent her career managing dietitians, housekeepers, food service workers and quality consultants. At Sound Community Services, Leslie aims to support the staff in her division (which includes Human Resources, Quality, Safety, Outcomes and Compliance) in a way that enables them to work together internally and externally and with the highest level of integrity and service. Furthermore, Leslie’s management style coincides with our Mission Statement: “Together we change lives by creating a better future through empowerment, opportunity and knowledge and living our values of integrity, teamwork and service: to our clients, our community and each other.”

“I am passionate about my pets, the great outdoors, and treating everyone with respect. I live a vegetarian lifestyle and encourage the same healthy habits in others. In my spare time, I enjoy walking or running with my 3 dogs in Stonington, where I live, and find great joy in volunteering at my church. I love helping others and find great satisfaction in the work I do. One of my favorite quotes is, ‘Our ability to grow is directly proportional to an ability to entertain the uncomfortable.’ | Twyla Tharp.”
